Active matter with inertia in a harmonic trap

In this work, the diffusion of active Brownian particles with inertia and subject to a harmonic trap is calculated. For the first time, the effect of translational and rotational inertia (quantified by the translational and rotational Stokes numbers, respectively) on the particles’s diffusion is theoretically calculated. The present results offer the possibility of analytically finding the swim and Reynolds pressure in the studied system.
